Acoustic

Large acoustic glazing unit in a living room with a street frontage

Acoustic performance is measured, not claimed. The AC-90 range is certified to Rw 45 dB in the laboratory (EN ISO 10140-2): a 47 dB laminated glazing unit in a sealed dual-cavity frame with a dedicated acoustic gasket. Sash mass is selected from the noise survey, not from a catalogue default.

Certified

Rw 45 dB, EN ISO 10140-2

Glazing unit

47 dB laminated IGU

Build-up

Asymmetric laminated, 24–42 mm

Airtightness

Class 4 (EN 1026)

How it is built

Rw 45 dB certified

Laboratory certified per EN ISO 10140-2 — the figure on the data sheet is the figure from the test report.

Asymmetric lamination

24–42 mm asymmetric laminated glazing breaks resonances that a symmetric pane would carry through.

Sealed dual cavity

The frame carries two sealed cavities plus the acoustic gasket, with airtightness Class 4 as part of the acoustic build.

Material & process

Glazing unit

A 47 dB laminated IGU with a 24–42 mm asymmetric core — the two different glass masses break the resonances a symmetric pane carries through the frame.

Frame build

A sealed dual-cavity frame with the dedicated acoustic gasket, and airtightness Class 4 as part of the acoustic build, because an unsealed joint is a leak in the rating.

Where it applies

Arterial roads, airport radii and rail frontages in all four markets — wherever the noise survey sets the number and the design has to meet it at the sash, not in a rendering.

Documented conditions for this specification

Acoustic glazing in a bright residential interior
The quiet side of the specification — the acoustic IGU on the same frame platform as the street side.

The same IGU logic in a French configuration — a different opening pattern, the same quiet.
White French doors in a quiet interior
The quiet side of the specification — the room reads the difference before the meter does.

What it buys you

A certified number instead of a claim: the Rw 45 dB figure on the data sheet comes from the EN ISO 10140-2 laboratory test.

The acoustic build rides the standard 70/75 mm platform, so the quiet elevation and the normal elevation share one frame line.

The glazing mass is tuned to the survey — you pay for the decibels the site actually needs, not a blanket premium.

Questions we get on this specification

Can you hit a lower figure than 45 dB at the sash?+

Yes — the glazing mass and cavity are tuned to the noise survey. For a 70 dB arterial street we typically land under 25 dB at the sash with the certified configuration.

Do acoustic units work with tilt-turn opening?+

The AC-90 is built on the same 70/75 mm platforms as the tilt-turn and casement ranges, so the sash opens and locks normally with the acoustic build intact.
